          About Samantha Williams-Chapelsky

Samantha Williams-Chapelsky is a Canadian abstract landscape artist based in Alberta. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 2009, graduating with distinction and majoring in painting and art history. Samantha has exhibited her work extensively for over two decades in Canada, the United States, and internationally, with paintings held in numerous corporate and private collections.

Samantha’s work is inspired by the vast beauty and shifting atmosphere of the Canadian landscape, particularly the diverse terrain of Alberta. Her paintings blend plein air observation with abstraction, exploring light, movement, and emotion through layered colour, expressive mark-making, and dynamic compositions. Through her intuitive approach, Samantha aims to capture not only the physical presence of the land, but also its deeper rhythms of change, energy, and connection.

          Samantha Williams-Chapelsky's Artist Statement

I produce large-scale abstracted landscapes with a focus on the materiality of the paint to allude to emotion and feeling within the natural space. I reference natural landscapes and create these works with brooms, palette knives, and liters of paint on birch panels. My work has unique finishes and sheens varying from shiny to matte to indicate an intuitive feeling of a geographical element in the landscape.
