Senior Canadian artist Bert Weir created dramatic impressionistic paintings that are a pure expression of the Canadian landscape he so loved and painted for over 60 years.
Weir dedicated his life to painting the interconnections within the Northern Ontario environment. This immersion, communication and bond informed his life-long study of the spirit of the land.
He would paint en plein air throughout all seasons and weather - in the bush around Parry Sound, on the waters of Georgian Bay and on the rocks and in the fields on the edge of the Canadian Shield. As was his intent in his work, you can feel the light that he captured and the movement of the wind as it surrounds the trees and moves across open water.
As an established artist, Bert Weir’s work can be found in the Canada Council Art Bank, corporate and private collections, documenting his career of six decades.
