Barb Sohn is a full-time landscape artist based in Perth, Ontario. Her work primarily focuses on capturing the mesmerizing qualities of water and landscape in acrylics on canvas. Inspired by locations such as Black Creek in Murphy’s Point Provincial Park and Blakeney Rapids on the Mississippi River, she explores the interplay of light, colour, and pattern in nature.

Retiring from a career as a social worker in 2016, she moved to a cedar home in the maple woods of Perth, where she built a small studio. Her paintings reflect her fascination with the endless possibilities presented by the transparency and reflections in water. She brings vibrancy and contrast to her work by starting with a wash of colour and building layers of design.

She is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists, and Society of Canadian Artists, and participates in several regional artist associations. Her work is an ongoing process of discovery, revealing the beauty of nature through her unique style.
